Workshop: Rigging Essentials for Aerialists w/ Trevor Kafka From $26 per visit with 6 visits - Drop-In Classes (Adult Program) passPurchase required to enroll

Safety is a crucial component of sustainable aerial practice. As aerialists, we work hard to make sure our movements are well practiced, controlled, and understood. In aerial classes at Gravity, progressions are learned to help increase understanding and competence of skills while remaining within a safe skill range, thick crash mats are used to pad the rare unexpected landing, and skills are kept at heights appropriate for each skill level.

However, one key piece of the safety puzzle that is very frequently out of the control of the aerial practitioner is the way that the apparatus is rigged in the training facility. Even so, this piece is of immense importance for the overall safety of everyone involved. Rigging is complicated, so having a understanding of how the many pieces of equipment work together to make a safe ringing setup can be challenging. This workshop intends to break the barrier between the recreational aerialist and the seemingly-intimidating world of aerial rigging by providing students with the knowhow necessary to start thinking critically about what they are hanging from in the air and how to ask questions and do further research to help justify their comfort working in the air. No prerequisites. Please see the full service description for information on what this workshop can and cannot provide.
